Bradley Lifting Corp. was founded in 1972, progressing from two employees
at the Bradley home to the present manufacturing facility and office
complex at 1030 Elm Street, in the heart of central Pennsylvania.
Prior to that time, Harvey Bradley, our President, left England in
1957 with his wife Win, to accept an engineering position with a steel
mill in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. While working in Canada, he became
recognized as a leading expert on below-the-hook lifting devices and
was hired as Chief Engineer in 1960 by Mansaver Industries of New
Haven, Connecticut. Mansaver was acquired by American Chain and Cable
Co. and moved to York, Pennsylvania, in 1964, where Mr. Bradley became
Sales Manager. In 1972, Bradley resigned to start his own company
since another move of Mansaver was contemplated. Starting in a basement
office in his home, Mr. Bradley managed sales and engineering, while
enlisting his wife Win for the myriads of office work.
His
first outside employee was Charles Meads of Mansaver experience and
now Vice-President of Engineering and Production. Win also took over
the office direction and financial responsibilities, and holds the
position of Vice-President. Many experienced employees were added
as the company’s sales grew, requiring additional space requirements.
From renting space at a local fabricator’s shop to two years later
purchasing an 8,000 square foot building at their present location,
Bradley Lifting has steadily expanded to meet the growing demands
for its products.
Today, the Company
maintains two plants with a modern office addition, giving Bradley
Lifting 40,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The business now
employs approximately 50 people and generates over $6 million in sales
with continued steady growth. Increasing sales throughout the world,
including Australia, Europe, Africa, and the Far East, have strengthened
our position as a world leader in below-the-hook lifting devices.
Because of an expanding export business, Bradley Lifting now maintains
a relationship with several licensees
that manufacture our equipment.
